Oil Paintings

My process when it comes to painting is a little different than others. I start with an idea. Most of the time, the ideas come to me while listening to music, driving, doing work, etc.

I will sketch out the idea, even sometimes pulling it into illustrator to move things around. Once I have a solid sketch, I will take that sketch and move it to a canvas. From there I will start painting.

One thing is for certain though, the final product very rarely ends up looking like my sketch when all is said and done.

With painting, as well as all forms of creating, I like to take a step back and listen to what this piece is wanting from me. I like to take into account that sometimes my original idea won't work out.

Oil painting is a hobby that I have had since I was 15 years old. As a young creator, I looked for any way to create. I was introduced to a close family friend, Bob Tompkins, who happened to teach, own, and run his own studio space for oil painting. I started classes with Bob, and soon after, fell in love in oil painting.
